BUSINESS AS USUAL BUT WITH A NEW LOOK
Age UK is the new name of the charity combining the force of Age Concern and Help the Aged. The introduction of the Age UK name marks a major milestone in the journey the two charities embarked on to create a single new organisation that will improve the lives of people in later life. Age UK will celebrate ageing and work to create opportunity in later life. It will fight and challenge disadvantage and work with and for older people to help transform their lives for the better.
Age Concern Dudley has for many years been a partner of Age Concern England and a member of the Age Concern federation and will continue to work closely with the new charity. As from April 19th 2010 we will be known as Age UK Dudley and will play our part in developing the new brand in Dudley Borough.
Age UK Dudley will build on the strong heritage of Age Concern and continue to provide the services and activities we have developed over a number of years to enable older people to make more of later life. Services like Day Care and Good Neighbour and Gardening can help older people remain independent in their own homes whilst our Healthy Footsteps, Activity Centres and Greenagers Project can help others remain fit and active for as long as possible. Access to basic information and easy to understand advice can often be the thing that is most needed and Age UK Dudley will continue to be accessible and as supportive of older people as possible and to work with colleagues in both the statutory and voluntary sectors.
Age UK Dudley will continue all current services and look to develop those services in the future as demand and needs change Chairman of the Board of Trustees Pat Harris said “We are delighted to be in a position to become Brand Partners with Age UK and look forward to a long and happy relationship with the new national charity, we feel this is a great opportunity to build on what has already been achieved but with a fresh look with our new name and logo the ‘life loop’”
Age UK Dudley began the long process of updating their entire organisation by this week changing their email addresses and website details. Assisting them in this collaboration is Tim Bailey of Stourbridge based IT company Techys2u, “We are pleased to be a part of this major change and look forward to working alongside Age UK Dudley on future projects that will benefit the community”
Sally Huband Chief Officer of Age UK Dudley said Thanks to Tim you can now contact Age UK Dudley at mail@ageukdudley.org.uk and that is our first step on a long journey. Of course you can still phone us on all the same numbers you may have used before including our main office number at The Junction, Netherton on 01384 354 508. We look forward to people contacting us and getting involved in this exciting changing time for our organisation”
